This is an attempt at an online reference for great popular music recordings for use by the more casual music fan. When you review these recommendations, remember that we all discovered our favorite recording through some source. That is what we hope this becomes for some of our visitors: a place to discover something new. These pages will be a continuing work in progress and these pages are just a start. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Byrds and a few other bands (insert your favorite band here) are not mentioned because the subject matter is so immense of a topic that a brief mention will not do them justice. Suffice it to say that any of their releases are highly recommended. We will attempt to recommend great music...then and now....

Certainly, before you become incredulous that your favorite recording or category is not listed, note that: (1) these recommendations reflect the opinion of the individual contributors only; and (2) we attempt to list only the recordings that stand the test of time or will stand the test of time according to our taste. The purpose of this page is to be a catalyst for you to explore the entire spectrum of popular music outside of what may be your passion. If you agree with some of our recommendations in one genre, maybe you will enjoy the recordings we recommend in another genre. Some of the recommendations are short; some are more detailed. There are categories that we have not covered here, and we will be expanding into other categories over time. A lot of the music defies categories, but we attempted to place that recording into what seemed to be the best category. Yes, this task is enormous, maybe impossible, but we feel the effort will be worth it.
